Like policemen, our rockers are getting younger but it’s the next generation who will ignite the Cotswold economy and there are a rising number of exciting young people doing it already.

This month our young rockers are:

  • A Gloucestershire singer about to go global
  • Raw food chef who is predicting the future of food
  • Fashion designer with woolly ambitions
  • Social media expert with a love of racing
  • Cotswold actress with her sights set on Hollywood

Hattie Briggs is a Gloucestershire based singer-songwriter and BBC Radio 2 Young Folk Award Nominee 2014. The 22 year-old quit Oxford University in the second year of a Russian degree to concentrate on her growing musical career. She
released her debut album ‘Red & Gold’ in April 2015 with a single ‘A Beautiful Mind’ on the same day. The album includes a cover of Eva Cassidy’s version of ‘Fields Of Gold’, produced by Eva’s brother, Dan Cassidy, who plays a violin solo on the record. http://www.hattiebriggs.co.uk

Jay Halford, 24, has a passion for food. Trained as a chef, earlier this year he opened The Core restaurant in Charlton Kings, Cheltenham producing high quality real food. Everything is healthy, dairy free, gluten free and refined sugar free where possible. His life ambition is to change the way people eat for the better and to show them the future of food. http://www.jayhalford.com

Caitlin Charles-Jones is 26. Her design philosophy is clean, bold and wearable silhouettes alongside innovative techniques, unusual material combinations and intricate embellishment. Caitlin was invited to exhibit her work at the Shanghai pinexpo trade show and finished her degree by winning the Swarovski Crystal Award.  After a work placement at Missoni, Italy Caitlin set up her studio in the Cotswolds. Tom Arkell, 34, is the owner of Stow-on-the-Wold based social media agency T20 Media and creator of the fabulous Cotswolds Gentleman web-magazine. He loves his job promoting businesses on-line presence and promoting everything
that rocks in the Cotswolds. Keen photographer, average cricketer, improving burger consumer who can often be found at Cheltenham Races. He’s also rather shy so he sent us a rather artistic montage to illustrate his business. http://www.thecotswoldsgentleman.co.uk

Wallis
Day, 22, is a beautiful actress who’s appeared on award-winning UK shows and has now set her sights on Hollywood. She hails from Cheltenham. Her first feature film debut: Between Two Worlds is in cinemas now. She’ll be appearing on our screens again, in the ITV’s new rendition of Jekyll and Hyde, as the female Jekyll and Hyde. The period drama is currently running on ITV1, Sundays at 6.30pm. Originally a fashion model, she worked in New York and London for various campaigns and is currently the face of Garnier.

A Rock the Cotswolds ‘Rocker’ is a business, person, event, charity or venue in the Cotswolds, an area not always associated with cool. The campaign has endorsement from national celebrities, politicians, Cotswold people and businesses.

Rock the Cotswolds aims to boost the local economy and inward investment into the Cotswolds (Gloucestershire and West Oxfordshire) helping the region attract and retain skilled people.
