How Many Different Dexter Series Are There

Hey there, Dexter fans! You know how sometimes you're binge-watching your favorite show, and you start wondering, "Hey, how many different Dexter series are there, anyway?" Well, buckle up, 'cause we're about to dive into the world of Dexter Morgan and find out!

Let's Start at the Beginning

So, you've got your basic Dexter, right? The one that started it all, back in 2006. It's based on the novels by Jeff Lindsay, and it follows our favorite blood spatter analyst turned serial killer (don't worry, he only kills bad guys) as he navigates the murky waters of Miami's criminal underworld. This one's got eight seasons, so it's a pretty hefty commitment, but trust me, it's worth it.

But Wait, There's More!

Now, you might be thinking, "Eight seasons? That's a lot!" And you'd be right. But here's where things get a little interesting. You see, Dexter's story didn't end with the U.S. series. No, no, no. Oh, no. That would be too easy. Instead, we got a spin-off!

Enter Dexter: New Blood

Fast forward to 2021, and we've got Dexter: New Blood. This one's a limited series, so it's a bit lighter on the commitment front. It's set in the small town of Iron Lake, New York, and it sees Dexter trying to live a quiet life under an assumed name. Spoiler alert: it doesn't go as planned. But hey, that's Dexter for you!

So, How Many Is That Again?

Alright, let's do a quick recap. We've got our original Dexter series with eight seasons, and then we've got the spin-off, Dexter: New Blood, with its ten episodes. So, in total, that's two different Dexter series to sink your teeth into. Not too shabby, huh?

But What About the Movies?

Now, you might be wondering about the movies. I mean, Dexter's a big deal, right? Surely there's a movie or two floating around? Well, here's where things get a little tricky. You see, there was a Dexter movie in the works. It was supposed to be a feature-length film that would continue the story from the series finale. But alas, it was not meant to be. The movie was announced back in 2014, but it never saw the light of day. So, for now, we're sticking with the two series.

So, What's the Verdict?

Well, folks, there you have it. Two different Dexter series, each with its own unique flavor. The original Dexter is a classic, with its dark humor and compelling storytelling. And Dexter: New Blood? Well, it's a fresh take on the character, with a new setting and a whole new set of challenges for our favorite anti-hero.

How to read the Dexter books in order

So, whether you're a long-time Dexter fan or a newcomer to the world of blood spatter analysis and vigilante justice, there's plenty to sink your teeth into. And who knows? Maybe one day we'll get that movie. Until then, happy watching!

And remember, folks, the code of Harry is not just a suggestion. Stay dark, stay Dexter.
