How Old Is Dallas Cowboys Owner Jerry Jones

So, I was at this sports bar the other night, right? Packed with fans, TVs blaring, you know the drill. I'm watching the Cowboys game, and suddenly, this guy next to me turns to me and says, "You know, Jerry Jones is older than the team itself!" I nearly choked on my wing. I mean, I knew Jerry was up there in age, but older than the Dallas Cowboys? That's some serious vintage, folks.

Now, I'm sure you're all curious, just like I was. How old is Jerry Jones, the man, the myth, the legend behind the Dallas Cowboys? Let's dive in, shall we?

Jerry Jones: A Timeline

Jerry Jones was born on October 13, 1942, in Los Angeles, California. That's right, he's a California boy, not a Texan. But don't worry, he's been a Cowboy at heart for a long time now.

He graduated from the University of Arkansas in 1965, where he was a star football player. After a brief stint in the NFL, he turned to the oil and gas industry, making his fortune as an entrepreneur. Now, here's where it gets interesting. In 1989, he bought the Dallas Cowboys for a cool $140 million. That's right, he bought an entire NFL team. Talk about a power move.

Now, let's do some math. If Jerry was born in 1942, and the Dallas Cowboys were founded in 1960, that means Jerry is 12 years older than the team. Mind. Blown.

Age is Just a Number, Right?

But age hasn't slowed Jerry down one bit. He's still the driving force behind the Cowboys, making big decisions and keeping the team relevant. He's been inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame, the Texas Sports Hall of Fame, and the University of Arkansas Sports Hall of Fame. Not too shabby for a guy who's old enough to be your grandpa, huh?

And let's not forget, Jerry's not just about football. He's also a successful businessman, a philanthropist, and a family man. He's been married to his wife, Gene, since 1963, and they have three children together, all of whom are involved in the Cowboys organization in some way.

Whether you're a Cowboys fan or not, you've got to respect a guy like that.

Next time you're watching a Cowboys game, remember, the man calling the shots is older than the team itself. That's some serious history right there, folks. Now, who's ready for some football?
