Umass Amherst Academic Calendar Fall 2026

Hey there, future Minuteman! Grab a coffee, pull up a chair, and let's chat about the not-so-distant fall semester of 2026 at UMass Amherst. You know, the one that's going to whizz by faster than a squirrel stealing your lunch. So, let's dive in, shall we?

Mark Your Calendar, Folks!

First things first, let's get those important dates locked down. The fall semester in 2026 is kicking off on September 5, which, I must say, feels like it's just around the corner. I mean, have you seen how fast those little emojis on your phone age? Scary, right? Anyway, back to the point.

Now, I know what you're thinking, "But what about the summer? I haven't even started my tan yet!" Well, fear not, my sun-loving friend. The academic calendar gods have heard your cries and have graciously given us a Labor Day weekend to soak up those last rays. The semester will wrap up on December 16, just in time for you to start your Christmas shopping. Or, you know, binge-watch that new Netflix series you've been eyeing.

Midterms and Finals: The Great Unknown

Now, let's talk about the elephant in the room - midterms and finals. I know, I know, you're shaking in your boots just thinking about them. But hey, at least we've got some dates to work with, right? Midterm exams are scheduled for October 17-21, and finals will be held from December 12-16. Mark your calendars, set your alarms, and start planning your study sessions now. Trust me, your future self will thank you.

And what about those lovely breaks we all look forward to? Well, you're in luck! The university has planned a Fall Break from October 22-25. Just enough time to recharge those batteries and tackle the rest of the semester with renewed vigor. And, of course, there's the big one - Thanksgiving Break from November 24-27. Four whole days to stuff your face with turkey, watch football, and catch up on your favorite shows. What's not to love?

Don't Forget the Little Things

Now, I wouldn't be a very good friend if I didn't remind you about the other important dates scattered throughout the semester. Like, for instance, the last day to drop a course without a W - that's September 22. And the last day to withdraw from a course with a W is October 29. You know, just in case you decide that Philosophy 101 isn't your cup of tea after all.

And what about those pesky deadlines for adding and dropping courses? Well, you've got until September 8 to add a course, and September 15 to drop one. But remember, kids, it's always easier to ask for forgiveness than permission. I mean, that's how I got through college, at least.
