When Did Patrick Mahomes Start In The Nfl

Alright, gather 'round, folks. Let's chat about when our boy Patrick Mahomes started his NFL journey, like we're sitting at a sports bar, beers in hand, and the game's on in the background.

Before the Spotlight

Imagine Mahomes as that kid in high school who was always the star player, but you knew he was destined for bigger things. He was born in Texas, and by the time he was 16, he was already breaking state passing records. He was like that kid in your neighborhood who could hit a baseball straight out of the park, every. Single. Time.

Fast forward to college, and Mahomes is at Texas Tech, still breaking records and making a name for himself. He's the starting quarterback by his sophomore year, and by his junior year, he's throwing for over 5,000 yards and 41 touchdowns. He's like that colleague who aces every project, and you're just sitting there, thinking, "How does he do it?"

Draft Day

Now, picture this: it's April 27, 2017. You're at home, or maybe you're at a friend's place, watching the NFL Draft. The Kansas City Chiefs are on the clock, and you're on the edge of your seat. They call out a name, and it's Patrick Mahomes! You're like, "Who?!" But then you remember that name from all those highlight reels, and you think, "Oh, that guy."

The Chiefs traded up to get him, like when you're at a garage sale, and you see that perfect vintage record you've been looking for. You're not the only one who wants it, but you're determined, so you trade your way to the front and snag it. That's exactly what the Chiefs did with Mahomes.

His Time to Shine

Mahomes spends his first year in the NFL learning from the sidelines, like that new intern who's eager to learn but hasn't quite got their hands dirty yet. But in 2018, he gets his chance. Alex Smith, the starting quarterback, gets injured, and suddenly, Mahomes is the man.

He steps onto the field, and it's like he's been playing in the NFL his whole life. He throws for 50 touchdowns in his first season as a starter, breaking the record for most touchdowns thrown by a quarterback in their first season. He's like that new chef at your favorite restaurant who comes in, takes one look at the menu, and says, "I can do better." And he does.

Patrick Mahomes’ Journey: From Texas Tech Star To NFL MVP

Mahomes leads the Chiefs to the playoffs, and then to the AFC Championship game. He's not just playing like a rookie; he's playing like a seasoned veteran. He's like that friend who picks up a guitar for the first time and starts playing like Jimi Hendrix.

The Rest is History

In 2019, Mahomes leads the Chiefs to their first Super Bowl victory in 50 years. He's the youngest quarterback to win a Super Bowl, and he's already breaking records left and right. He's like that kid who started with a lemonade stand and now owns a multinational corporation.

So, there you have it, folks. That's the story of when Patrick Mahomes started in the NFL. It's like watching a movie where the underdog comes out on top, and you're just sitting there, cheering him on. Here's to many more years of Mahomes magic!
